A historic market in the heart of the city

Tradition, quality and community since 1931

The Mercato Albinelli is one of the oldest and most striking covered markets in Italy and Europe. Inaugurated in 1931 in Modena's historic centre, it is a symbol of the city, combining the century-old tradition of Modenese food with the vitality of a lively, authentic square experienced every day by locals and tourists alike.

Every day, fifty food stalls sell bread, fruit and vegetables, fresh pasta, cheeses, cured meats, meat, fish, sweets, wines and of course the area's typical products, such as Aceto Balsamico, Lambrusco, Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Modena, Zampone and tortellini — as well as Vignola cherries and IGP pears!

“The Mercato Albinelli is the beating heart of Modena, a place where the city comes back to life every morning.”

A collective heritage of the people of Modena, the Market is run by the Traders' Consortium, which safeguards its identity and promotes its development, keeping the bond between traders and customers alive from generation to generation.
